Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about understanding your blood test results with HealthLens.

About HealthLens
What is HealthLens?
HealthLens is a free AI-powered tool that explains blood test results and imaging reports in plain English. Built by Trevor Sebuliba, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, BSc, MSc, NMP — with 13+ years of experience in Emergency Medicine and Primary Care. Upload your results and receive a clear, jargon-free interpretation in seconds, highlighting what's normal, what needs attention, and what to ask your GP.
Is HealthLens free to use?
Yes — the core AI analysis is completely free with no account required. Optional paid features include:

PDF download — £1
Clinical letter generation (PIP, ADHD, ESA, travel, etc.) — £10
Monthly subscription — £5/month for unlimited exports

The AI interpretation itself will always remain free.
Do I need to create an account?
No. HealthLens requires no account, no email, and no personal information to use the free AI analysis. Your report history is saved locally in your browser. An email address is only needed if you want your report emailed to you.
Is HealthLens a substitute for seeing a doctor?
No. HealthLens is an educational tool to help you understand your results — not to replace professional medical advice or diagnosis. It helps you arrive at appointments better informed, knowing which results are abnormal and what questions to ask. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for clinical decisions.
Blood Tests & Results
How do I understand my blood test results?
The easiest way: upload them to HealthLens. The AI will explain each value in plain English, compare it against NHS reference ranges, flag abnormal results, and suggest questions for your GP.

For individual test definitions, visit our free A-Z Blood Test Glossary.
What blood tests can HealthLens interpret?
Virtually any panel, including:

• Full Blood Count (FBC) — haemoglobin, white cells, platelets
• Liver Function Tests (LFTs) — ALT, AST, bilirubin, albumin
• Kidney Function (U&Es, eGFR, creatinine)
• Thyroid Function (TSH, T3, T4)
• HbA1c and blood glucose (diabetes)
• Lipid profile (cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides)
• Iron studies and ferritin
• Vitamin D and B12
• Inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR)
• Hormones, tumour markers, and more
Can HealthLens interpret imaging reports like MRI or CT?
Yes. HealthLens can explain imaging report text — including MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and echocardiogram reports. Upload the PDF or photograph the written report. The AI translates medical terminology into plain English. Note: HealthLens interprets the written report, not the raw images themselves.
Does it work with NHS App results?
Yes. Screenshot or download your results from the NHS App, Patient Access, SystmOne Online, or any patient portal, then upload to HealthLens. The AI reads and interprets results in any standard format.
What file formats can I upload?
JPEG, PNG, and PDF files are all supported. You can photograph paper results with your phone, screenshot your online portal, or upload a downloaded PDF. Multiple files can be uploaded at once.
Privacy & Security
Is my data safe and private?
Yes. HealthLens is built with privacy as a priority:

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS with 256-bit TLS encryption
• Your health data is not stored on our servers after processing
• Fully compliant with UK GDPR
• Analysis results are stored locally in your browser only
• We never share your data with third parties
Letters & Paid Features
What is the GP Letter Pack?
The GP Letter Pack (£10) generates a professionally written clinical letter from your health information. Letter types include:

• PIP disability support letters for DWP applications
• ADHD and ASD referral letters for specialist assessment
• ESA and Universal Credit capability evidence
• Travel letters (fit-to-fly, medication carriage)
• Private specialist referral letters
• Housing adaptation evidence letters

Letters are written in clinical language and ready to submit immediately.
How accurate is the AI?
HealthLens uses Claude AI — one of the most advanced large language models — combined with clinician-validated prompts designed by a UK Nurse Practitioner. Interpretations are based on current NHS reference ranges and clinical guidelines.

AI is not infallible and cannot replace a clinical examination or full patient history. Always verify important findings with your healthcare provider.
For Clinics & Practices
Can GP practices use HealthLens?
Yes — HealthLens offers a B2B white-label tier for GP practices, occupational health firms, and private clinics. This includes a branded version of the tool, bulk letter generation, a clinician dashboard, and dedicated support.
